The Star City Casino investigation is getting more and more serious, as authorities have revealed that investigators completed a swab of the venue’s offices, looking for traces of drugs. The investigation of alleged drug use by former manager Sid Vaikunta was launched in 2010, but it is only recently that this information has been revealed.
In 2010, TabCorp led an investigation to look into claims that management of the casino were taking part in drug use. Fortunately for Vaikunta, no traces of drugs were found. However, this did not have any bearing on his dismissal in early 2012, when he was fired for sexual harassment allegations.
Earlier this week, a former Star City worker claimed that Vaikunta and other administrators had used drugs on the casino’s premises. However, authorities cited the 2010 investigation that proved no drugs had been at Star City. Two years, later, however, things could have change – and it seems that another drug-use investigation may need to be launched.
The Star Casino’s name has been dragged through the mud lately, and it will be difficult for the casino to recover after all of this bad press. It comes at a very inopportune time, as the casino has recently undergone a multi-million dollar makeover to increase business.
