Grocery Clerk Lottery Winner Breaks Promise to Continue Working

This month, one lucky male by the name of Trevor won an impressive $26 million Power Ball jackpot from the NZ Lotto. He shocked the media not only with his decision to go public with his win but also with his announcement that he would actually return to his job as a grocery store clerk.

He informed the media that he would still show up for his 5am shift the next day; however, he did not. Reporters and journalists gathered to greet him as he did the honourable thing and showed up for work the day after winning a multi-million dollar lottery prize, but he was nowhere to be found.

It is likely that the pressure became too much for young Trevor, as he did not consider the downsides of announcing your $26 million lottery win to the world. In addition to being hassled by reporters, it is likely that friends and family also came out of the woodworks to get a piece of Trevor’s winnings.

New Zealanders have a lot to say on the issue, with news reports on the subject getting a great deal of feedback. Most people state that they would have kept quiet about the win, while others claim they would have taken more time to consider their future plans before announcing them to the mass media.
